The scope was to transfer a 40 year old traditional event into the world of today, to make it more attractive for a new generation of spectators. Therefore Jogi Foerg, Jerry Appelt and Michael Kuehbandner developed a lighting concept which was a real innovation at that time and a prototype for other sportsevents of this kind. The kit list embraced only 80 wash- and 40 spot -lights to illuminate the whole olympiahall in munich with showlight and make the racetrack tv-ready. This was possible through exact and detailed planning as well as through sophisticated programming and operating during the whole event. The concept was successfully exported to other indoor bycicle events in germany.
